GV297 : The effect of endurance training on arterial stiffness and serum BMP-4 in women with peripheral neuropathy of type 2 diabetes

Abstarct: Background and objectives: Neuropathy is one of the most common long-term complications of diabetes, and on the other hand, arterial stiffness may be involved in the development of insulin resistance and thus cause diabetes. Also, the serum level of BMP-4 may be associated with the initial phase. Atherosclerosis is related. Considering that exercise has an effect on BMP-4 and arterial stiffness, as well as on the recovery of diabetic patients, and on the other hand, BMP-4 and arterial stiffness are related, so the purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of exercise on arterial stiffness and BMP-4. The serum of women with peripheral neuropathy was type 2 diabetes. Materials and methods: The statistical population of the current study included type 2 diabetic women with peripheral neuropathy (Michigan score above 7) referring to the Diabetes Association and Imam Hossein Shahrood Hospital, who were randomly divided into two groups of 15 people: 1) endurance training group (15 people) with average age (58±3) and body mass index (27±3) and fasting blood sugar (170±47) 2) control group (15 people) with average age (56±4) and mass index body weight (29±4) and fasting blood sugar (181±50) mg/dL). The exercises consisted of three sessions a week for 12 weeks and each session consisted of 20-45 minutes of aerobic exercise on a treadmill with an intensity of 50-70% of the reserve heart rate. Arterial stiffness was measured by vascular screening device before and after the end of the test. The Klomogrove Smirnov test was used to check the normality of the data, and due to the normality of the data, the analysis of covariance test was used to evaluate the dependent variables in the training group compared to the control group with the covariate of the pre-test data (05/ 0P=). Results: The BMP-4 factor in the training group had a significant decrease after the training period compared to the control group (p=0.001). At the end of the test, the cardiovascular-ankle vascular index (CAVI) in the exercise group had a significant decrease compared to the control group (p=0.001). The leg-brachial vascular index (ABI) in the training group has decreased significantly compared to the control after the training (p=0.54). The vascular index of TBI in the training group has decreased significantly compared to the control group after training (p=0.001). Blood sugar has decreased significantly in the training group compared to the control group (p=0.015). Insulin has decreased significantly in the training group compared to the control group (p=0.001). Systolic blood pressure in the training group has decreased significantly compared to the control group (p=0.001) and diastolic blood pressure has decreased significantly (p=0.001). The body mass index and weight in the training group increased significantly compared to the control (p=0.001), while the fat percentage decreased significantly (p=0.001). Conclusion: According to the results, BMP-4 decreased during exercise in the exercise group, and it seems that this decrease can be related to changes in arterial stiffness due to exercise, but due to the lack of significant changes. ABI index needs more research in this field.
